About wRVU Tracker

What is wRVU Tracker?

wRVU Tracker is a web-based physician productivity platform for tracking work relative value units (wRVUs). Physicians, advanced practice providers, and residents log the CPT and HCPCS codes they perform, and wRVU Tracker prices each entry with official CMS Physician Fee Schedule RVU values, totals productivity by day, week, month, quarter, and year, estimates compensation, measures progress toward targets, and compares output with specialty benchmarks. It runs in any modern browser on phone, tablet, or desktop, and can be added to a phone's home screen so it opens like an app.

What does wRVU Tracker do?

wRVU Tracker lets you: (1) look up work, practice expense, malpractice, and total RVUs for any CPT or HCPCS code; (2) log encounters one at a time, from favorites, or as a batch for an entire shift; (3) apply CPT modifiers with their RVU multipliers; (4) track productivity across multiple jobs, each with its own facility setting, compensation model, and CMS year; (5) estimate earnings from a dollar-per-wRVU rate or a salary-plus-productivity contract; (6) set weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly wRVU targets and see your projected finish; (7) compare annualized wRVUs with 25th, 50th, 75th, and 90th percentile specialty benchmarks; (8) compare your totals with employer-reported RVUs; and (9) export your history as CSV, or import it from a spreadsheet on Pro.

Feature overview

Who uses wRVU Tracker?

wRVU Tracker is built for employed and productivity-paid physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, locum tenens and per-diem clinicians, and residents who want an independent record of their wRVU output. Hospitalists, emergency physicians, surgeons, primary care physicians, and proceduralists all use it.

How does wRVU Tracker handle the Medicare 85% rule for nurse practitioners and physician assistants?

Every code is logged at its full CMS wRVU value, because a code carries the same wRVUs no matter who bills it. The 85% rule changes what Medicare pays when an NP or PA bills under their own NPI, not the wRVU. Since employers handle this differently, you set your own dollar per wRVU for each job. If your employer credits you at 85%, enter the adjusted rate (for example, $50 x 0.85 = $42.50) so pay estimates match your paycheck.

Is wRVU Tracker free?

Yes. The RVU calculator, CPT code lookup, specialty pages, GPCI pages, and guides are free and need no account. A free account adds procedure logging (up to 100 procedures in total, counted by quantity), one job, shift logging for locums and per-diem work, one active target, full analytics, compensation tracking, benchmark reference ranges, and CSV export, with no credit card required. wRVU Tracker Pro costs $14.99 per month or $119 per year and adds unlimited procedures, multiple jobs, multiple active targets, personalized benchmarking with your percentile and gap to the median, CSV import, and priority support. Data you have already logged always stays viewable and exportable.

Codes, modifiers, and CMS data

Does wRVU Tracker support CPT and HCPCS codes?

Yes. wRVU Tracker includes CPT Category I, CPT Category II, CPT Category III, and HCPCS Level II codes from the CMS Physician Fee Schedule, about 7,600 codes for 2026. Each code shows its work RVU, office (non-facility) and facility practice expense RVUs, malpractice RVU, total RVU, and estimated Medicare payment. Category II codes carry no RVUs, and some Category III codes are carrier-priced.

Search CPT codes

Does wRVU Tracker support modifiers?

Yes. You can attach CPT and HCPCS modifiers to any entry, and the RVU value is adjusted by that modifier's multiplier. Supported modifiers include 22, 25, 26, TC, 50 (bilateral), 51 (multiple procedures), 52 and 53 (reduced or discontinued), 59, 62 (co-surgeons), 76 to 79 (repeat and related procedures), 80 to 82 (assistant at surgery), XE, XP, XS, XU, LT, RT, and telehealth modifiers such as 95. Modifier 26 records only the professional component, and TC only the technical component. By default each job follows Medicare modifier rules, so 51 counts 50 percent of wRVUs and surgical modifiers 54, 55, 56, and 78 use the official CMS split for that procedure. If your employer gives full credit regardless of modifiers, switch that job to full credit and its entries count 100 percent.

Modifiers guide

Does wRVU Tracker support MPPR (Multiple Procedure Payment Reduction)?

Partially. Modifier 51 applies the standard 50 percent multiple-procedure reduction to a secondary procedure's RVUs. wRVU Tracker does not automatically apply the separate CMS MPPR rules for the practice expense portion of same-day therapy or imaging services, so entries for those services show unreduced practice expense RVUs. Work RVUs, which most productivity contracts pay on, are not affected by therapy or imaging MPPR.

What CMS year does wRVU Tracker use?

wRVU Tracker uses the 2026 CMS Physician Fee Schedule as its current data, with a 2026 conversion factor of $33.4009 (or $33.5675 for qualifying APM participants). The 2025 schedule is also available. Each entry is priced with the fee schedule for its date of service: dates in 2025 use 2025 values and dates from January 1, 2026 use 2026 values. If your employer still pays on an older schedule, you can assign any CMS year from 2020 to 2026 to a job, effective from a date you choose. Every entry records the CMS year used to price it.

What specialties does wRVU Tracker support?

Every specialty that bills under the CMS Physician Fee Schedule can use wRVU Tracker, because it includes every CPT and HCPCS code. Specialty benchmarks (25th, 50th, 75th, and 90th percentile annual wRVUs) are available for more than 90 specialties and subspecialties, including hospital medicine, emergency medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, cardiology, gastroenterology, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, radiology, anesthesiology, dermatology, neurology, urology, psychiatry, and pediatrics. Free specialty guides and specialty RVU calculators list the highest-volume codes for each field.

Does wRVU Tracker work for anesthesiologists and CRNAs?

Yes. Choose Anesthesiology or CRNA as your specialty and your jobs switch to anesthesia mode. Each case is logged with its anesthesia code plus start and end times or total minutes, and wRVU Tracker calculates anesthesia units the Medicare way: base units plus time units (minutes divided by 15, or rounded up to whole 15-minute units if your group does that), plus P3-P5 physical status units. Medical direction modifiers QK, QX and QY are credited at 50%, and AD at 3 base units. Anesthesia units are kept separate from wRVUs and never converted. Separately billed procedures such as nerve blocks, arterial and central lines, TEE and critical care still count as wRVUs. Your specialty in Settings controls the whole account, so every job, dashboard card, insight, target, chart, export and weekly email uses Anesthesia Units. Pay estimates use your rate per unit, and you can add an optional dollar rate for procedure wRVUs. Peer comparisons and benchmarks only compare you with your own specialty, so anesthesiologists and CRNAs are kept separate. If you change your specialty, the app asks you to confirm first, then recalculates your existing cases. Nothing is deleted. Logging is free, and each case counts as one procedure. You can also try the free Anesthesia Units Calculator without an account: pick a code, enter the case time and physical status, and see the units with a Medicare dollar estimate.

Compensation, targets, and reconciliation

Can physicians track compensation in wRVU Tracker?

Yes. Each job can use one of these compensation models: productivity (wRVUs multiplied by your dollar-per-wRVU rate), salary plus productivity (base salary plus a dollar-per-wRVU bonus on wRVUs above a threshold), a flat rate per shift for locums and per-diem work (logged with shift logging), or tracking only. wRVU Tracker shows estimated earnings to date and projected annual earnings from your current pace. These are estimates based on what you enter, not payroll figures.

Earnings and compensation guide

Can I model a productivity bonus in wRVU Tracker?

Yes. Choose the salary plus productivity model for a job and enter your base salary, your annual wRVU threshold, and the dollar-per-wRVU rate paid above that threshold. wRVU Tracker projects your annual wRVUs from your current pace and shows the bonus you are on track to earn. For example, with a $300,000 base salary, a 5,000 wRVU threshold, and $50 per wRVU above it, a projected 5,600 wRVUs shows a $30,000 bonus and $330,000 in total estimated pay. You can also set a yearly wRVU target at your bonus threshold to see how far ahead or behind you are. These are estimates from the numbers you enter; your contract and employer payroll are the final word.

Can physicians track productivity targets?

Yes. You can set weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly wRVU targets with a start date, an optional stop date, and an optional dollar-per-wRVU rate. Each target can be tied to a job. wRVU Tracker shows progress, pace compared with your work schedule, and a projected finish. Free accounts have one active target; Pro allows several at once.

Can I compare my RVUs with employer-reported RVUs?

Yes. Filter your logged history to the same date range and job as your employer's productivity statement and compare the totals side by side. Then export the matching entries as CSV for a line-by-line review. Your entries record the code, quantity, modifiers, and CMS year used, so you can find differences caused by missing procedures, modifiers, a different fee schedule year, or a different rate. wRVU Tracker does not import employer statements automatically; you compare against the totals your employer provides.

Your data

Can data be exported from wRVU Tracker?

Yes. Every account, free or Pro, can export its full logged history at any time, for a single year or for all years. Exported data stays available even if you reach the free plan limit or cancel Pro. Pro members can also import past entries from a CSV file; entries you already have are skipped, so a backup can be re-imported safely.

Importing and exporting guide

What export formats does wRVU Tracker support?

wRVU Tracker exports CSV (comma-separated values) files, which open directly in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and Apple Numbers. The Settings export includes date of service, CPT or HCPCS code, quantity, work RVUs, total RVUs, modifiers, notes, job, and the CMS fee schedule year. The History page export adds the code description and RVU per unit. PDF and native Excel (.xlsx) exports are not currently offered.

Does wRVU Tracker store patient information?

No. wRVU Tracker is designed for procedure codes and productivity totals only, not patient health information. Notes fields warn you if text looks like patient information, such as names, dates of birth, medical record numbers, or phone numbers. Your entries are private to your account and are never shared with employers or payers.

Privacy policy

What if I forget my wRVU Tracker password?

Choose Forgot password on the sign-in page and enter your email. Then pick how to verify it is you: we can email you a reset link, or, if your account has a verified mobile number, text you a 6-digit code you enter right on the page to set a new password. Codes expire after 10 minutes. We email you whenever your password changes. You can add, change, or remove your mobile number in Settings; to change or remove one, we first text a code to your current number. If you activated your account by text, we still ask you to confirm your email address. If a number was added before your email was confirmed, resetting your password with the email link removes that number, and we show you which number it was so you can add it back.

I signed up with Google. Can I also use a password, or the other way around?

Yes. Google and email sign-in lead to the same wRVU Tracker account when they use the same email address, so your logged procedures stay in one place. If you signed up with Google, you have no password yet: use Continue with Google, or set a password in Settings under Sign-in methods (Forgot password on the sign-in page also works). Adding a first password keeps you signed in everywhere. Changing an existing password in Settings asks for your current password and signs out your other devices. If you signed up with email, you can tap Continue with Google with the same address and land in the same account. We email you every time Google sign-in is added. If your email had not been confirmed yet, adding Google turns off the old password and signs out other devices to protect the real owner. A Google account with a different email creates a separate account. To change your email address, set a password if you don't have one, disconnect Google under Sign-in methods, then change your email. You can connect a Google account with your new address afterwards.

Comparison

How is wRVU Tracker different from other RVU trackers?

Most RVU apps are either a code lookup or a simple running total. wRVU Tracker combines both and adds: pricing every entry with the CMS fee schedule for its date of service, and recording that year on the entry; per-job settings for facility or office practice expense, compensation model, rate history, and CMS year, for clinicians with more than one employer; modifier-adjusted RVUs; target pacing that accounts for your work schedule; specialty percentile benchmarks; employer reconciliation with CSV export; and a free tier with public, no-login calculator and code pages. It works in any browser on phone, tablet, or desktop with no app store download, and it can be added to a phone's home screen so it opens like an app.
