Importing and Exporting Data

Bring data in from a spreadsheet or export your history as a CSV file.

Exporting your history

Open Settings, go to the Data tab and choose Backup CSV. The file includes date of service, CPT or HCPCS code, quantity, work RVUs, total RVUs, modifiers, notes, job and the CMS year used for pricing. Export a single year or all years on any plan. The History page also has an Export button that adds a summary, top codes, code descriptions and RVU per unit for the date range and job you are viewing. Both files open in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.

Importing from a CSV

CSV import is a Pro feature. Open Settings, go to the Data tab and find Import from CSV. Download the template, or use a Backup CSV from wRVU Tracker. Only Date and CPT Code are required; Quantity, Modifiers, Notes and Job are optional, and columns can be in any order. Drop the file in and you will see how many rows are ready, how many are already in your account and which rows need fixing before anything is saved.

What to know about imports

Dates can be written as 2026-01-15, 01/15/2026 or 1/15/26. Codes must be in the CMS fee schedule, and leading zeros that spreadsheets drop (like 100 for 00100) are restored. RVUs are calculated for you from each entry's CMS year and job, so RVU columns in the file are ignored. Rows that match entries you already have are skipped, so re-importing a backup does not double count. Rows with problems are listed with the reason and can be downloaded to fix and re-import. Imported entries appear on your Dashboard and History right away.
