Data Sources and Methodology
Every RVU value in wRVU Tracker comes from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Physician Fee Schedule. The 2026 schedule is current and the 2025 schedule is also available, covering about 7,600 CPT and HCPCS codes.
What is included
- Work RVUs, practice expense RVUs (facility and non-facility), malpractice RVUs, and total RVUs for each code.
- The CMS conversion factor, used to show estimated national Medicare payment amounts.
- CMS status indicators, so codes that are bundled, not covered, or carrier priced are labeled.
How entries are priced
Each logged entry uses the CMS fee schedule year for its date of service, or the CMS year assigned to the job. Office or facility practice expense values follow the setting chosen for each job, and modifier multipliers are applied to the entry.
GPCI reference data
Geographic Practice Cost Index (GPCI) values are published in the GPCI directory and state pages for reference only. Logged wRVUs use national values, and GPCIs are never applied to your logged wRVUs, totals, or earnings estimates. The state pages include an illustrative example of how Medicare uses GPCIs.
Updates and limitations
Data is refreshed when CMS publishes each new Physician Fee Schedule. wRVU Tracker is for productivity reference only and is not a billing or coding tool; payer contracts, local adjustments, and employer policies can differ from CMS values.
